ephemeris

The position of a satellite in space as a function of time.

Ephemeris data are used for gridding satellite imagery. Since ephemeris data are based solely on the predicted position of the satellite, an ephemeris is susceptible to errors from vehicle pitch, orbital eccentricity, and the oblateness of the earth.
