- In referring to vehicles for scientific research and/or observation, the dimensions (often only the weight) of the scientific equipment carried by a rocket, aircraft, ship, etc.
This usually includes sensors, data storage and telemeter gear, and instrument power supply, and sometimes includes special auxiliary equipment and recovery gear.
- The environmental sensors and instruments carried on an aircraft, rocket, or satellite.
