International Pyrheliometric Scale

(Abbreviated IPS.) A radiation scale for measurement of solar exitance (irradiance).

Defined in 1956, it replaced the Ångström and Smithsonian scales, and was itself replaced in 1975 by the Absolute Radiation Scale.
