odd chlorine

A collective term for the suite of inorganic chlorine compounds found in the atmosphere, including chlorine atoms (Cl), chlorine monoxide (ClO), hydrogen chloride (HCl), chlorine nitrate (ClNO3), hypochlorous acid (HOCl), and chlorine monoxide dimer (Cl2O2).

The interconversion of these compounds in the stratosphere leads to ozone depletion.
