quasi-equilibrium

In meteorology, used to describe a state of statistical equilibrium between ensembles of cumulus convective clouds and larger-scale processes.

In such an equilibrium state, the rate of generation of convective available potential energy by the larger-scale processes is balanced by frictional dissipation within the convective clouds.
