form drag

  1. In flow over or past a solid obstacle, that part of the momentum or kinetic energy loss associated with the flow stagnation and related pressure distribution on the obstacle.

The form drag scales as the square of the relative velocity, but also depends sensitively on the form of the obstacle.
    See gravity wave drag.

  2. See drag.
