From Glossary of Meteorology
An east wind that has crossed the Andes; the Andean foehn of the South American west coast.

This term is sometimes used for a land breeze in areas where the Andes descend sharply into the Pacific Ocean. The corresponding sea breeze is the virazon.

  1. The intercommunicating body of saltwater occupying the depressions of the earth's surface.
