(Sometimes called display.) An instrument used to reveal but not necessarily measure the presence of an electrical quantity.
It is used to display the output of a sensing element after suitable amplification and modification. In radar the term is used to refer to the cathode-ray oscilloscopes, or other recording devices, where the echoes returned from targets are presented visually or graphically.
