radar meteorological observation

From Glossary of Meteorology
(Or radar weather observation.) An evaluation of the echoes that appear on the display of a weather radar in terms of the orientation, intensity, tendency of intensity, height, movement, and unique characteristics of echoes, which may be indicative of certain types of severe storms (such as hurricanes, tornadoes, or thunderstorms).

Such an observation is commonly abbreviated ROB (for radar observation).
